John M. DeFeo, Esquire, is a graduate of Saint Joseph's Prep in 1975, Saint Joseph's University in 1979 and Saint Louis University School of Law in 1982.  He has been admitted in Pennsylvania, New Jersey (inactive status), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

 

He has extensive major jury trial and arbitration experience as a defense litigation attorney.  He was most recently employed as a Level IV Trial Division Attorney for Nationwide Insurance Company where he also spent 5 plus years as the managing trial attorney. Over the years, he has handled a vast variety of cases including commercial litigation, wrongful death, product liability, asbestos, construction defects, UM/UIM and personal lines cases on behalf of various insurance carriers. He first began in the ADR forum as a Defense Arbitrator but eventually transitioned into a more independent role as a Neutral Arbitrator, Sole Arbitrator and Mediator before opening his own ADR/MEDIATION business in December, 2014.

 

He has continued to serve as a Judge Pro Temp for the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County. In addition to numerous in-house seminars on various litigation issues, he has presented CLE seminars to both lawyers and paralegals in the past including his most recent CLE presentation entitled “Thinking About Binding ADR Arbitration/ Mediation?”  He has also been a guest lecturer at Holy Family College and Gwyned Mercy College on the subject of ADR/MEDIATION.
